Refrigeration Forum General Overview and Instructions

This forum has been created to allow users such as yourself to post (ask) questions and discuss matters directly related to Marine Refrigeration. By sharing your questions, experiences, and lessons learned (good & bad), all may share and increase their knowledge base. ZRD will monitor and provide additional guidance as appropriate. This will not prevent users from having a lively exchange of information. To be included (question or response) send an email to forums@zrd.nospam.com   Note:   Remove nospam and one dot. If you need more guidance, see the Email Instructions link under Company / Contact Us tabs. Please use an appropriate subject line in your email.

1.) Common question from users

How do I reduce the amperage consumed by my refrigeration system?

Refer to our refrigeration link   under products for pictures and further information. Simply, a correctly done installation with the appropriate amount of insulation and correct design is required for an efficeient running refrigeration system. Our latest research shows that simply by adding our special user custom fitted insulation allows for a significant reduction of consumed amperage by most existing refrigeration systems. The insulation is pliable with a high density allowing for greater efficiency of your refrigeration and freezer equipment. Do not forget to add the insulation to the top of the refrigeration and freezer lids to reduce cooling loss. The net gain in reduced electrical consumption will be amazing. It has exceeded all of our expectations. It is a major "win-win" solution. You will be able to run colder refrigeration compartments consuming significantly less amperage over a 24hr period. Depending on various factors, a net refrigeration efficiency increase of 100% (reduce refrigeration amperage consumed in half - by 50%) is very possible. There are other things to do such as increasing wire sizing, reducing runs, and changing over to an electronic control system.
